Hello lovelies! I thought a cute mini series for the start of summer would be fun. It’s going to be a group of maybe 3 or 4 posts about surviving summer! This one is all about beauty and beauty problem solving: makeup, hair, and nails! Let’s get started!
Must List
How to Swap Winter for Summer
Swap no powder for a highlighter
Instead of leaving off the powder for a dewy look, simply mix a highlighter with your foundation to keep the glow and apply powder to avoid excess shine! Try this liquid highlighter (in lilac petal), this powder highlighter (in enchanted) both from e.l.f. or this glow powder (two birds with one stone) also from e.l.f.
Swap Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm for natural balm with SPF
Instead of a conditioning balm with no SPF, try an all natural lip balm with at least SPF 15 to protect the delicate skin on your lips! Try this ellovi lip butter which uses only 6 ingredients!
Swap Full coverage foundation for a tinted moisturizer with powder foundation
Instead of doing a heavy full coverage foundation all over your skin with a translucent powder, try a tinted moisturizer with a powder foundation to set it. It still gives you that coverage but helps keep shine at bay. I like bare minerals matte powder foundation over Bare Skin serum foundation.
Swap regular mascara for a waterproof
Believe me, I am one to avoid waterproof mascara but in summer it is a must to avoid smudging just because of the heat. I like the CoverGirl full bloom waterproof mascara!
Swap thick moisturizer for a matte one
A thick moisturizer in heat is begging for your makeup to melt off your face. Try this Olay Fresh Effects Gel moisturizer!
Swap hydrating primer for a matte one
Any way to keep your skin away from being shiny is great, including a matte primer! Try this one from Neutrogena!
Swap leave in conditioner for a dry conditioner and a salt spray
Summer can leave your hair oily and gross so a leave in conditioner is a definite no, try this leave in conditioner to make your hair soft and this sea salty spray from Not Your Mother’s to give your hair some texture on day two!
Swap dark polishes for pastels, brights, and whites
Leave the dark shades in Winter and try white, pink or a bright peach! My favorite is a pink so light it almost looks white from Sinful Colors in Easy Going! I also love white when I’m going monochrome and a bright (Aurora Cosmetics, use code IPSY for 30% off your order through July 31!!!) for a day out with friends!
Other Tips
Use benefit’s new License to Blot stick to keep oil away and your makeup flawless throughout the day. Also try these oil blotting sheets from Clean and Clear which keep your makeup mostly in tact when oil has gotten too much for the blotting stick.
A facial mist is ideal for keeping your skin refreshed! I love this Mario Badescu RoseWater mist to use when you’re not wearing makeup this evian spray to refresh makeup!
