My summer skincare is always a bit different than the rest of the year. I aim for lighter moisturizers, a bit of mattifying, and an extra dose of SPF. Coola was kind enough to send over a few products and I’ve fallen in love with their self-tanner. Coola is a great brand for people looking for cruelty-free, vegan, or sun-protecting products. Another brand I love for summer skin products is Supergoop because they have so many innovative ways of protecting skin from the sun’s rays including a mattifying face mist, serum, and even a face powder. And you can’t forget about Glossier’s “skin first” motto if you’re in the market for a few new bits.
In the summer I always try to fake a bit more of a tan than I’m actually getting since I’m not one to sit out in the sun and bake for very long. The Coola anti-aging self tanning serum is one of my favorites for a non-orange and gradual tan. My favorite way to use it is to mix a drop or two in with my moisturizer at night. It doesn’t have that fake-tan scent and creates the perfect consistent tan if I use it every other night.
Supergoop has such great sun-protection products and lots of ways to make it so easy to include some SPF in your routine no matter how much or how little makeup you’re wearing. For those that prefer to include SPF in skincare, there’s a super light and hydrating serum that is such a light moisturizer for summer in the mornings. If you want some SPF in your makeup routine, Supergoop has an SPF blush/lip balm 2-in-1 that provides great lip color or cheek stain. I haven’t used it myself but the SPF powder really catches my eye and I might want to try that out because I love their SPF mattifying setting spray. Definitely check out Supergoop if you have a hard time remembering (or wanting) to use a plain sunscreen product on your face. There’s so many different ways that Supergoop could help you incorporate sun protection in your routine in a way that really works for you.
And finally some great skincare for summer comes from Glossier! The Milky Jelly Cleanser really makes my skin feel thoroughly clean despite all the sweat, oil, and makeup. The Priming Moisturizer feels so light on my skin during the summer and really prepares it for whatever makeup I put on. Sometimes I skip moisturizer and use the Invisible Shield because it’s very hydrating and the gel consistency is perfect for summer.
Mario Badescu’s facial mists are most used during this time of year for me. I use them before makeup, while I’m doing my makeup on my makeup sponge when it gets a bit dry, and as a setting spray sometimes. The lavender version is perfect for bedtime to spray myself down a bit, it feels so good on hot summer nights.
