April Goals 2017

This April I wanted to take a new approach to the “goals” post that I tried to be so diligent about last year.  Instead of writing the same 4 or 5 goals all year, I wanted to pick one of my yearly goals and set it as a theme for this month.  I want to really work on not spending time on my phone. There’s no better way to distract from one habit than to replace it with another, or a few more.  My April goals are all centered around spending less than 75 minutes on my phone per day.

April Goals 2017

  1. Continue having posts up every Monday and Thursday morning.  I usually photograph two posts a weekend then write Sunday then I’ll write Monday or Tuesday night to finish things up.  With these two post days, I’ll have somewhere to dedicate my time and put down my phone more.
  2. Spend at least 1 hour each night studying for upcoming exams.  I have two huge exams in a month so I’ll be working really hard this month to get all the study time I need in.
  3. Read one book.  One book isn’t hard to read in a month, I finished one in 3 days and I wasn’t even trying.  I have always loved reading so this one should be a breeze.
  4. Practice my calligraphy at least twice a week for 15 minutes.  This isn’t a huge time commitment so I shouldn’t have an issue but sometimes it takes a kick of motivation to get everything out.  It’s so relaxing when I do this that it’s worth the set-up and clean-up time.
  5. Get some exercise in!  I enjoy exercise so even 15 minutes a day will get me back into the habit so I can do more next month.
  6. Spend 20 minutes coding at least 3 times a week.  As long as I’m working on this I know I can improve a lot and I’ve come pretty far already.
  7. Try to only go on Instagram once a day and never touch the explore page.  I have a nasty habit of scrolling through the explore page for eons and it really needs to be stopped.

None of my April goals are hard but I’m having trouble lately not spending time on my phone (especially weekends).  Hopefully having a little list of short activities to do will get my phone out of my hand.  I can also gain some practice on skills I’ve been hoping to improve on the last few months.
