Stay Moisturized This Winter

Mid-Winter is when I start noticing that everywhere gets a little dry: my hands, the bottoms of my feet, and my whole body in general.  Going out in below-zero temps sucks every last bit of hydration out of my skin from head to toe, and these are some of the products I use to combat it.

In-Shower

In the shower is where it all begins.  I refuse to take a “lukewarm” shower like some people suggest to keep my skin hydrated so instead I pick all the products I can to keep my skin crazy hydrated.  I like to use a shower oil to wash my body, it feels super luxe and my skin is smooth and moisturized.

After I’ve washed my body I use the Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion.  This stuff seems gimmicky but it actually works.  I have this one patch of skin that always gets super pigmented when I self tan and I decided to use this in the shower before I tanned last time and it completely fixed the problem.  It pretty much gets rid of the need to slather on body lotion post-shower but in this weather I still usually do.  There’s no scent so it’s great for sensitive skin too (always appreciated).

Post-Shower

After my shower I really enjoy using some sort of body cream or lotion.  My favorites have been either the Bath and Body Works Body Oil with Olive Oil in the Almond and Vanilla scent (so warm and yummy) or the Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal Lotion* which is insanely thick.  The BBW Body Oil scared me initially but it feels so comfortable on the skin and doesn’t leave me feeling greasy at all.  It’s a light oil but it packs a serious punch by keeping my skin hydrated all day.  This isn’t quite strong enough for my hands in this weather but it’s perfect for arms and legs!

The Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal Lotion* is what my hands and feet have been asking for.  It’s incredibly thick and creamy but doesn’t feel heavy.  Also, it’s got exfoliating magic powers.  It doesn’t feel gritty at all but gets rid of that flaky, ashy feeling that I sometimes have.  This will keep my skin hydrated all day and it smells fantastic.

Daily

When I’m not in my pre- or post-shower stages, there’s still a lot of upkeep to withstand this -10 degree weather (without windchill).  Cuticle oil is another lifesaver for keeping my poor nails in order.  Also the handy trick of slathering on Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream and putting on thick socks before bed keeps my feet from getting cracky and too dry.  And finally, I’ve gone through multiple hydrating serums in the past few months, but if you’ve got cracking and peeling dry skin this time of year, go for the Belif Hungarian Water Essence, Korres Ageless Saffron Serum, and Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Skin Booster.  These have been saviors to my skin.

And as for makeup, I’ve been hydrating with a serum, moisturizer, then using my Too Faced Hangover Primer.  I put a few drops of the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Skin Booster in with my foundation and it goes on so glowy and hydrating.  It doesn’t make the foundation slide off or get greasy but leaves a perfectly smooth and hydrated look to the skin.

Be sure to take care of your skin and self this winter! By the way, the * means I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes, but opinions are always my own!
