If there’s one thing that’s really improved my skin and my general health, it’s drinking more water. I used to drink maybe 1 glass of water a day. Needless to say, my skin was incredibly dry, I got lots of headaches, and I never felt 100%. I decided one day to up my water intake to 64 oz a day, 8x what I used to drink. Fair warning: don’t do what I did, work your way up to 64 oz otherwise you’re in for a few headache days from drinking too much water without getting used to it.
Why Drink Water
Drinking a good amount of water is so good for your skin, it keeps your skin from getting dry, it flushes out toxins so your skin glows and acne is less likely to appear, and it can help prevent aging. Water also strengthens your nails and prevents dry cuticles, something I especially need help with. And drinking lots of water helps prevent hair loss. So if you’re looking for glowing skin, free anti-aging, strong nails and better hair, drink up.
On the more health side of things, your water intake can increase your weight loss and naturally cures most types of headaches. I was really looking to help get rid of my headaches but it did not, unfortunately.
Up Your Water Intake
- Carry a bottle around your house with you. This one has helped me the most since I end up sipping all evening or morning instead of just chugging a bottle once or twice a day. Fill a bottle and bring it to the couch with you, watch your normal shows while sipping water. Your body will thank you.
- Drink up with every meal. A glass of water with every meal is a really easy way to make sure you’re drinking water.
- Always keep a bottle at your workspace and by your bed. While your reading or watching a show at night, sip on some water and right when you wake up drink up. I can drink about 2 bottles of water while I’m working on the blog or anything else at my desk.
Upping your water intake will definitely benefit your skin and your health. How do you make sure to drink all your water for the day?
